We summited Carstensz Pyramid (local name, Puncak Jaya) in Indonesia, March 9th 2025, at 7.30am local time (10.30pm GMT). It took 4.5hrs to reach the summit (4,884m) and 2.5hrs down.
It’s a very difficult place to access (10 flights round trip from the UK) plus geopolitical turbulence between the Indonesian government and guerrilla warfare to Free Papua. 360 Expeditions were brilliant on logistics, and ground crew, guided by Rolfe Oostra. It’s a c.20,000 mile round trip from the UK so we needed a LOT of luck with flight connections and weather to pull it off! Door to door 6.5 days from the UK.
