Atlantic Challenge

2025

DISTANCE (MILES):
3000

In November 2025 Julian, and three other rowers in a four man boat, will be participating in The Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge which is known as the world’s toughest row. Teams race as either soloists, pairs, trios or quads, attempting to cross the Atlantic via the route Columbus’s fleets took centuries before, 3,000 miles from La Gomera to Nelson’s Dockyard, English Harbour, in Antigua. The boats are 7m long and under 2m wide, with a small cabin for protection against storms. They race normally takes a four man boat around 33-35 days to complete the crossing.

The team is raising funds and donations for the ClockTower Foundation and The Matt Hampson Foundation.

Lead sponsor is Runwood Homes but also includes sponsorship partners Barchester Healthcare, Hadrian Healthcare, LNT Care Developments, Maria Mallaband Care Group, Avery Healthcare, Caring Homes Group & BondCare.
